UNICEF, originally called the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, now officially United Nations Children’s Fund is an agency of the United Nations responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. It was created on 11 December 1946, in New York by the UNRRA to provide immediate relief to children and mothers devastated by World War II.
