The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) was established in 1945 and its primary responsibility is to maintain international peace and security. It achieves this by fostering negotiations, imposing sanctions, and authorizing the use of force, including the deployment of peacekeeping missions. The council consists of 15 members, including the five permanent members (USA, France, China, Russian Federation, and the UK) and ten elected members who serve two-year terms.
